Resistant hoses for the bulk materials industry

From November 7 - 8, 2012, interested visitors to the Westfalenhallen Dortmund will be able to find out about interesting hose solutions from the bulk materials handling sector, including at the Masterflex SE booth (Hall 4, Booth G07).

Masterflex SE, Gelsenkirchen - October 30, 2012.

Around 350 national and international exhibitors will once again be offering a diverse range of products and services for processing and handling as well as transporting and storing bulk materials. From November 7 - 8, 2012, interested visitors to the Westfalenhallen Dortmund will be able to find out about interesting hose solutions in the field of bulk materials handling, including at the Masterflex SE booth (Hall 4, Booth G07).

Masterflex will present itself with a wide range of products and product solutions for almost all industries, such as the food, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, plastics, ceramics and chemical industries.

In industries where problematic materials are handled, the demands on hose systems are particularly high. Particularly in the bulk goods industry, where highly abrasive media are transported, a high level of abrasion resistance and robust properties are required. After all, less wear means less production downtime due to maintenance work. Masterflex offers the right product solutions for precisely these high requirements. With the Master-PUR Inline, Masterflex presents an extremely abrasion-resistant hose made of polyurethane, whose outer wall is reinforced with a spring steel wire spiral. Its smooth inner wall can be flexibly adapted in composition and hardness, depending on the degree of stress and area of application.

Due to a special manufacturing process, there are no edges or seams on the inside of the hose. The 4 mm thick inner wall is absolutely smooth. This offers advantages in many respects when conveying highly abrasive materials. The hose offers little surface for abrasion. Optimum flow properties are created, which has an equally positive effect on the service life of the hose and on the gentle conveyance of the medium. It is suitable, for example, for conveying sand, gravel, grain or granules and is used, for example, for feeding and cleaning in glassworks, mineral processing plants, steel mills, quarries, shipyards and port facilities, cement plants or for flat roof silting.

Particularly for process plants in Ex zones and the transport of flammable bulk materials, completely different demands are placed on the hose types used. Ignition hazards due to electrostatic charges must be avoided and the risk of dust explosion must be ruled out. Masterflex offers suitable hose types with antistatic properties for this application. Food-safe hoses with antistatic properties are also available for the food and pharmaceutical industries in the area of bulk material conveying. This is ensured by a non-migratable permanent antistatic agent that is incorporated into the raw material composition. Interested visitors can obtain information from the sales staff.

Pipe bends are a major weak point in conveying systems for bulk materials. Here, the material to be conveyed hits the wall during transport when it has to be steered around the bend. Heavy wear, damage to the outer wall and downtimes are the result. Masterflex is presenting another sophisticated product at the trade fair for this extreme stress: the Protect pipe bend. The PU-lined pipe elbow offers very long service life, very good abrasion resistance as well as low pressure losses and low risk of clogging thanks to the interaction of the special inner geometry and the material used. The outstanding feature is the thicker lining precisely at the point of the actual elbow where the mechanical stresses are greatest. The inclined surface made of PU steers the bulk material relatively gently around the bend. Impacting particles bounce off it and thus do not damage the outer wall. This protects the pipe bend, the downstream pipe, and the material being conveyed.
